Recess

Support

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Recess helps you sit less and move more. Every so often, during the hours you choose, it pauses the apps that keep you sitting until you get up and do a short set of a movement you pick, counted by your camera, on your device.

Common questions

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Recess, then Cancel. You’ll keep access until the end of your current period.

How do I change which apps get paused, or when?

In Recess: Settings, then “Apps paused during a break” to choose apps, and Settings, then “Active hours” to set the times and days.

Does Recess record video of me?

No. The camera counts your reps using on-device pose detection. No photos or video are ever recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.

How do I delete my account?

In Recess: Settings, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account and its data. Cancel your subscription separately in the App Store, as above.

The break isn’t unlocking my apps.

Make sure Recess has Screen Time permission (Settings, then Screen Time in the app) and that your chosen apps are still selected. Completing your reps lifts the pause.
